The focus Norwood V North Adelaide match at Prospect Oval to remember this week is May 31, 1986 when club Legend Michael “Kingo” Taylor played his 250th game in the red and blue. Brenton Klaebe also made his debut for Norwood on the same day.

Norwood secured a 43-point win over the Roosters at Prospect in Round 9, 1986 – 14.16-100 to 7.15-57 in front of 11,549 people.

North went on to finish minor premiers, eventually losing to Glenelg in the 1986 Grand Final. Norwood finished fifth

Taylor had returned to The Parade the previous season (1985), having returned from his four-year career with Collingwood.

In 1986 Taylor went on to record his record-equaling sixth Norwood Best & Fairest Award, an honour now named the Michael Taylor Medal.

His career included 267 SANFL games with Norwood, 92 VFL games with Collingwood (359 games total), 13 State Games, two SANFL Premierships (1975 & 1978), six B&Fs (1973, 1974, 1978, 1979, 1980 & 1986), Norwood Captain 1978-1980, Norwood Hall of Fame Legend, SA Football Hall of Fame inductee, and Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee.
