Jack Saunders & Round 4 Injury Update

Update: 4/5/23 – 3pm

Norwood midfielder Jack Saunders has remained in hospital with a neck injury since Sunday’s Round 4 SANFL game at Glenelg Oval, where he was involved in a front on high collision while contesting the ball.

He went to hospital post game where it was later discovered that he has a fracture to his C1 vertebrae.

While this is a significant injury, the medical advice is that he will make a full recovery.

Norwood Football Club Football Manager Rick Shrowder has requested everyone to respect the privacy of Jack and his family.

“We are all thinking of Jack and his family during this time,” he said.

“Jack’s wellbeing is the club’s number one priority, but we are confident that he will be able to recover. We hope to see him on the field again in 2023.”

Round 4 Update:

Jackson Callow, Matthew Panos and Patrick Walker played their first games of the 2023 season in Glenelg on Saturday, having spent the first three weeks on the sidelines with injury.

Key forward Callow came back into the League line up following an ankle injury that he sustained late last season when playing with Hawthorn, while Panos and Walker both played Reserves on Sunday. Panos has been recovering from a leg injury since late last year, and Walker an ankle injury.

Jack Saunders was the only injury concern coming out of the League clash, with a neck injury that he sustained as a result of a heavy collision. It is his second head injury of the season, having copped a high knock during a trial match.

Pierce Seymour returned to the Reserves line up on Anzac Day, his first match of the season since recovering from an ankle injury.
