SANFL Wheelchair Football – Round 3 match report

Norwood took on a very strong Woodville-West Torrens team in Round 3 of the SANFL Wheelchair Football League on Friday night, and went down by 115 points.

The Eagles sit on top of the ladder and got off to a fast start making full use of the size mismatches in all areas of the court, and along with that came the professional level chair skills and elite fitness.

This proved to be an extremely tough ask for Norwood’s severely undermanned side.

Norwood had noticeable absences in SA key defender Richard Davis and a late substitution for David Gould who suffered a likely concussion in the reserves game.

Although the Redlegs didn’t take the chocolates in Round 3 there are plenty positives to take away from the contest as they still managed to play the style of footy that they wanted even without several key personnel.

Individuals lifted their game to the standard when they were given exposure even if it was due to unfortunate circumstances.

The duo of Grant and Rick Leonard combining for all of Norwood’s four goals showed why the Redlegs will be a force to be reckoned with in the later stages of the season as they continue to work in tandem together in the forward line

The squad will most certainly be motivated to bounce back and come out firing next week against Central District on Friday June 23.
