Well, it all comes down to this.

Arch rivals Norwood and Port Adelaide will battle it out at Coopers Stadium on The Parade this Saturday afternoon, with the winner of this match to go through to the SANFL finals series.

It’s a script that’s been written perfectly, with the League’s biggest rivals competing for the only remaining finals place. Sturt, Glenelg, Adelaide and Central District sowed up their place weeks ago, leaving the Redlegs and Magpies (who are locked at 7-10 apiece) to fight for the remaining piece of the September puzzle.

Norwood and Port will be playing for the Gallagher-Williams Cup. Norwood won the Round 12 match by 17 points, therefore, Port will need to defeat the Redlegs by 18 points or more to reclaim the trophy.

Norwood welcome back key forward Jackson Callow for this Saturday’s must-win clash, after missing the last four matches through suspension. The Redlegs have also included Max Hodges, Liam Ling and potential debutant Indhi Kotzur on the extended bench.

Ruckman Luke Surman is out with the hamstring injury sustained in the Round 18 win over North Adelaide.

The Redlegs kicked five goals in the last quarter last week to come from behind and defeat the Roosters by 13 points to set up the final game showdown with the Magpies, who went down to Glenelg at the Bay last Saturday.

Norwood and Port have had similar seasons in 2025, both overcoming slow starts and getting on a roll mid-season to eventually get to Round 18 with a 7-10 record (Norwood currently holds fifth spot by 5%, which accounts for nothing this Saturday).

For the Redlegs, they lost their first five matches (and six of their first seven) under new coach Jade Sheedy, before winning seven of their final 12 games to get themselves back in contention.

In a frustrating season, it took Norwood until last weekend against North Adelaide to eventually string back to back victories together, and at the conclusion of Round 18 the club jumped into the top five for the first time all season.

After Round 9, Norwood sat four wins outside the top five, so it’s been an epic fightback to put itself into a position of making the finals.

The Redlegs opponents, the Magpies, lost five of their first six matches, before getting their season underway with three straight wins in rounds 7, 8 and 9. Port had finished the season strongly with three wins from their last four games before losing to the Tigers last week.

Neither side can finish any higher than fifth, with the winner to take on Central District at the Adelaide Oval in the Elimination Final on Sunday, August 31.

The League match will get underway at the later time of 3:40pm, with the players to run through the FORTIS ARMY guard of honour at 3:28pm. Head onto the playing surface at the Southern End from 3:20pm to form the guard of honour. Norwood will also be paying tribute to those that have passed on, with the Remembrance Round video to play on the big screen at 3pm and half time of the League match.

The Reserves also have a winner goes through match against Sturt at Coopers Stadium from 11:30am. In between the matches, the Premiers Bar will be open for $6 Coopers beers, where Jordan D’Sena will be playing live music.
