Norwood head out to Elizabeth’s X Convenience Oval this Saturday afternoon, hoping to claim a third consecutive victory in the SANFL Men’s competition.
The Redlegs will be without former Bulldog Kade Dittmar and Mitch Nicholas for the Round 5 clash against Central District, with Dittmar missing through suspension (two games), and Nicholas through concussion.
Coming into the line up is Alex Swinnerton, who will be making his SANFL debut, as well as Daniel Gauci, Max Hodges, Liam Ling and Oliver Sanders on an extended bench.
Jackson Callow will be playing his 50th SANFL match.
The Redlegs started the season with back to back losses against Sturt and Glenelg, both in tight arm wrestles, before evening their win-loss ledger at 2-2 with wins against South Adelaide and Port Adelaide in recent weeks.
“I think we’ve had four pretty close games where the results could have gone either way, so I think 2-2 is probably a fair reflection,” Norwood GM of Football Dan Menzel said.
“We are playing some ok footy without hitting our straps in all facets of the game, so there is definitely a bit to work on for the coaching group and things that we are going to work on over the coming weeks and months.”
Norwood will be keen to string together a four-quarter performance against the Bulldogs, after showing flashes of both brilliance and poor football across the first month of competition.
The Bulldogs, who played the Redlegs in last season’s Elimination Final, are surprisingly winless after four rounds, with three losses and a draw next to their name. The Bulldogs have lost to North, Adelaide and South, and drawn with West Adelaide.
