Rawlings appointed Senior Coach of Norwood

THE Norwood Football Club is extremely delighted to announce the appointment of Jade Rawlings as its new Senior Coach for the next three years.

The highly respected Rawlings joins the Redlegs from North Melbourne where he served as Senior Assistant Coach.

A backline coach at Melbourne since 2012, Rawlings’ coaching career started as an assistant coach at Richmond in 2007.

He was also the head coach of Richmond’s VFL side before being appointed as caretaker coach of the senior side for 11 games in 2009.

The 44-year old then served a two-year stint at the Brisbane Lions under Michael Voss in 2010 and 2011 before crossing to the Demons in 2012.

Prior to his coaching career, Rawlings played a total of 143 AFL games for Hawthorn, the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne.

Norwood CEO James Fantasia said he and the selection committee immediately identified Rawlings as someone who was respectful, but someone who had a firm vision of where he wanted to lead the football club going forward.

The selection committee was made up of CEO James Fantasia, President Paul Di Iulio, Football Director Justin Staritski, ex-AFL administrator Stephen Trigg and AFL Premiership Captain and ex-Assistant Coach Mark Bickley.

After what was a thorough but though out process, the committee was unanimous in its decision to appoint Rawlings as head-coach of Norwood.

“We’re really excited to have someone of Jade’s calibre at the club,” Fantasia said.

“Jade is respectful, well-mannered and someone that the selection committee was immediately drawn to. His professionalism and experience speak for itself and he will be a tremendous asset.

“Jade has coached his own sides before and will bring a wealth of knowledge. I have no doubt he will be a fantastic addition and I welcome Jade and his family to Norwood.”
