Grand Final Team

It’s Grand Final week for Norwood’s U18 Girls side, heading out to Elizabeth’s X Convenience Oval on Sunday morning for the inaugural AAMI Talent League Girls decider.

The Redlegs will face Central District in the final – a fitting match up, with both sides looking the team to beat at different stages of the season.

The Bulldogs charged into premiership favoritism, winning their first three matches comfortably, before back to back losses to Sturt and the Eagles. Centrals steadied with two big wins over West Adelaide and North Adelaide to finish the minor rounds 5-2 and on top of the ladder.

Norwood started its season with a close win over Woodville-West Torrens, and a 20-point win over the Bloods, before a 10.3-63 to 4.0-24 loss to the Bulldogs in Round 3.

As the Bulldogs lost their back to back games, the Redlegs capitalised with wins against North, Sturt and Glenelg to shoot to the top of the table.

It set up a big Round 7 match against South Adelaide at Noarlunga, which, if Norwood won would have guaranteed a minor premiership and home final. Unfortunately for Norwood, South was way too strong with a 4.5-29 to 0.3-3 win.

In the end, Centrals, South and Norwood all finished 5-2, with the Bulldogs claiming top spot on percentage, the Panthers second and Redlegs third.

The Redlegs defeated South and Dogs defeating Sturt in last week’s Semi Final, to set up a Redlegs V Bulldogs Grand Final.
