Norwood Host Dogs in Triple Header

Norwood host Central District across three matches at Coopers Stadium on Sunday, taking on the Bulldogs in a SANFL Men’s, SANFL Women’s and Reserves Triple Header.

The Redlegs have named a seventh debutant, with Noah Daw to make his long awaited SANFL debut on Sunday, having been named as an emergency across the past month.

The 19-year-old tall defender has been outstanding in his first season as a senior player, averaging 22 disposals and nine marks across his 12 Reserves matches.

Aaron Francis also returns from his one game suspension to face the Dogs, while, Daniel Gauci and Josh Murphy have been named on the extended bench.

Alec Wright will miss the Round 15 clash due to his hamstring injury, which he sustained early in last Saturday’s match against West Adelaide.

Norwood coach Jade Sheedy said that midfielder Baynen Lowe and ruckman Harry Boyd would likely return after next week’s bye.

Sheedy was looking forward to the clash with the Bulldogs, who had showed some improved form in recent weeks, winning two of their past three matches, following a rough start to the season.

“They have got a bit of stability back in their side in terms of the balance of their team,” he said. They are probably the opposite of how West Adelaide played on the weekend, in that they are a bit taller in their front half and have some players down there who can mark the ball.

“They are a very direct team from stoppage and had 65 inside 50s on the weekend and dominated that game of footy. Their form over the last four or five weeks has built and is pretty good.”

Norwood had a strong 49-point win over Centrals back in Round 5, holding the Dogs to just two goals for the match.

The League match will kick off at 2:40pm, following the SANFL Women’s match from 12:30pm and the Reserves from 10am.

Norwood’s SANFL Women’s side is back from the bye, and coach Ben Hunt has named a settled line-up. The Redlegs have added Charlee Brooksby, Nicola Burns, Amy Gaedtke and Steph Simmonds to an extended squad for the Round 11 match against Centrals.

A win for the Redlegs would go a long way to securing a place in the SANFL Women’s finals series. With four rounds to play, the 7-3 Redlegs sit second on the ladder, two wins ahead of the fifth placed North Adelaide.

Norwood’s SANFLW side also take winning form into the contest, having claimed a 10-point win over the Bulldogs back in Round 6. Norwood have won its past three matches against South Adelaide, Woodville-West Torrens and Glenelg before the Bye.
