NORWOOD has suffered a shock loss at the hands of Centrals by 19-points at the Parade on Friday night.
With a finals spot up for grabs, the Legs fell to Roy Laird’s Centrals after a disciplined and tough performance which saw the Dogs true hunger and grit on show at the Parade.
The game was up for grabs at half-time with the Dogs leading by 13 points, before they gained control of the midfield through Travis Schiller and captain Trent Goodrem to give their versatile attack avenues to score.
Forward Troy Menzel kicked four majors, Corey Durdin chipped in with three and Ethan East was also dangerous, kicking two.
The Legs started well, as Peter Bampton gave the Norwood fans something to cheer about early in the opening term.
In form midfielder Matthew Nunn was started the match as he finished the last, booting two goals for the term amongst leading the disposals at quarter time.
The Dogs weren’t to be denied, keeping the Legs scoreless in the second term while managing to boot three goals of their own courtesy of East, Menzel and Jenner.
After the main break, both sides went at it, as it was goal for goal throughout the whole of the third term.
Ed Smart executed a set shot from 40 to give the Legs the perfect start, before Dom Barry and Matthew Panos kicked back to back goals midway through the term to mount a late fightback heading into the final quarter.
Nunn kicked his third on the three-quarter time siren to bring Norwood within three points at the final change.
The Dogs, however, continued to fight, outworking their opponents not allowing Norwood to spread from contest to gain inside 50 entries.
Centrals kicked the opening goal of the term through Nicholas Gillard, however, Bampton replied instantly to bring the margin back to three.
The Dogs went on to kick three of the final four goals of the contest to run out 19-point winners at the Parade.
Norwood now must win this Friday night against the Bloods if they are any chance of playing finals in 2019.
