Norwood’s Senior Women’s side heads to Prospect’s Revo Fitness Oval on Saturday, taking on North Adelaide in an Anzac Day clash.
Both the Redlegs and Roosters will be searching for a first win of the season following Round 1 losses to South Adelaide and Central District respectively.
Norwood was outclassed in the first half against the reigning premier Panthers, before competing hard in the second half and holding South goalless after the main break, but went down by 26 points.
It was a similar tale for North, trailing by 21 points at half time before showing some better signs after half time in a 27-point loss to the Bulldogs.
The Redlegs have confirmed one debutant for the Round 2 match, with off-season recruit Abby Klaebe selected to play her first SANFLW game for Norwood. She has been a star at local level for Payneham NU Football Club, having won the Division 1 League Medal in 2024.
Another recruit Sophie Palmer has also been named on the extended bench, and if selected will make her debut, while Taylor Hand has also come into the side.
It’s a big Anzac Day schedule with Norwood’s Senior Women kicking things off at 11:30am at Prospect, and Norwood’s U18 and U16 Boys hosting North Adelaide at Norwood Oval, before a must-win Semi Final match for the U18 Girls at Elizabeth’s X Convenience Oval from 7pm.
The U18 Girls take on South Adelaide for the second consecutive week, but take a stronger team into the final, with five key figures coming back in. The Panthers secured a strong win over Norwood in Round 7, which cost the Redlegs top spot.
Ella Anderson, Skyla James, Amelia Kelly, Della McCracken and Mia Wood come into Saturday’s finals team, who each missed last week due to the National U16 Girls National Championships.
