SANFL Teams: Round 5

Norwood heads to Prospect Oval this Saturday to take on North Adelaide in Round 5 of the 2024 SANFL season.

The Redlegs will be hoping to keep an unbeaten start to the season alive, following early round victories against Sturt, Glenelg, West Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

Last Saturday, Norwood secured an 18-point win over the Magpies at Alberton Oval.

The Redlegs will be without veteran Matthew Panos for the Round 5 match, after he injured his knee in the Round 4 encounter at Alberton – Full story here

Jackson Callow, who was a late out of the Round 4 match with a hamstring injury, will again miss Round 5.

Norwood has named an extended bench for Saturday, with Mitch Carroll, Xavier Tranfa, Ethan Warburton, Dom White, Tristan Binder, Alec Wright and Brodie Carroll named.

The Redlegs have been a strong defensive team in the opening four matches, allowing just 44 points against per game. The highest score against was 50 points to the Double Blues in Round 1.

North Adelaide struggled early in the season, suffering 27-point and 92-point defeats in Rounds 1 and 2 to Central District and the Eagles, before steadying to claim wins against Sturt and Adelaide in Rounds 3 and 4.

Norwood’s Reserves are also undefeated after the first month. In a quirk to the SANFL Reserves fixture, the Redlegs take on the Roosters three weeks in a row, with Norwood’s League side playing the two AFL sides (Port Adelaide and Adelaide) and North Adelaide in a three-week block.

The Redlegs claimed a seven-point win over the Roosters in Round 3 thanks to last minute goals to Liam Robinson, Tristan Binder and Mitch Carroll.
